passenger window

Jeepers! What did they replace? How many hours work? Did they give you any idea of the cost before the mugging occurred? I'm gonna stop using my windows from now on :o

They should have informed you before carrying out any repairs, unless you told them not to.

Either way you have been ripped off I would say.

If it was just the usual regulator mechanism replaced then that is properly outrageous! :o

Mine was done by a reputable indi for under £250 inc VAT, parts being the majority. You could try a bit of protest but I suppose the lesson is to get a quote before agreeing work, but being prepared to pay for diagnosis if you decide to go elsewhere.

window regulator and motor and cable
just to top it off one of the rear springs had cracked £315 to replace the pair
never mind all done now :(

you could this job yourself for less then £100 just done it myself

I feel your pain. I just paid £120 after the car went into limp mode on a mid journey restart (it was fine the next day!). Because I wanted to see what fault codes had been produced. It was a sticking throttle, they said. They carried out the prescribed BMW procedure (wiggling it a bit). That was the cost, no parts and nothing covered by my warranty :x

Guess you learnt a lesson the hard way, they obviously saw you coming. I would always ask to be phoned before they carry out any work.

Did they give you an itemised bill?

Just changed my regulator in a couple of hours, bought the regulator for £162 from BMW, couldn't be bothered with the repair kit, BMW wanted to charge me £104 an hour labour to fit it, so politely told them to FO
