Passenger window not working !

Ok so the passenger window opens with a crunching sound about 3 inches and then won't close then it will open fully and then won't budge - so had to pull the glass up by hand whilst someone else held the switch in the up position !!
Finally got it closed anybody any ideas what it could be ?

Slowly I am rebuilding this car piece by piece and now with recent repairs approaching £2k beggining to get a bit pissed off with the so called BMW reliability which I have yet to experience

About £50 for a repair kit or £150 for the complete window regulator plus fitting, unless you are a bit handy.

Thanks dav - not too handy with a tool kit so it's down to the Indy in the morning !

Definitely the window regulator failed.
Relatively simple job done in an hour
