Passenger window drops down when the key is out the ignition

Hi all

A problem started today where I got out my car, opened the passenger door, shut it and locked the car but my window didn't pop up?
I then opened it again and closed again but it wouldn't pop up so had to leave it.

When I got back into the car few hours later, I opened the passenger door and shut it and it worked again and popped back up.
I got home and parked, locked the car and again the passenger door won't pop up?

It does when you shut the door with the key in the of ignition but as soon as you take the keys out it drops back down?
Then I was standing there for about a minute and with the car locked the window was going up and down repeatedly?

My partner disconnected the battery and left it for 5 mins but I still have the same issue...

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks, Emma x

Have you tried resetting the window and trying again? I had a similar issue on a E46 recently on the near side too and after resetting the window no more problems.

If the window is going up and down without you touching anything then you could have water ingress which has effected the electrics and depending on how bad it is it maybe a very costly fix

How do I reset the windows?

Could be that - I've had a leak somewhere that went away and has come back again (posted a thread about it a while ago) and that has some water in the boot and near battery.

Let's hope it's an easy fix rather than a costly one

Hold the window switch down until window is fully open and keep switch held down for another 5 seconds.
Hope this rectifies your problem.

that's not the full reset procedure.

Only know it, and that thread, for I must have done it a gazillion times in the last year ;)

Thank you I will try that! It hasn't done it as much since but I will try this to hopefully stop the problem!

Many thanks, Emma
