Passenger seatbelt warning noise!

I have a fault when carrying a passenger. Despite them wearing a seatbelt, the car intermittently warns that is not being worn (beeping sound). I'm assuming that it's the switch that's made in the tensioner when you fasten the belt, as when you get the warning, if you push or wiggle the part of the belt that plugs in it stops.

Just wanted to bend everyone's ear on this before I go ahead and replace the belt tensioner.

P.S it doesn't show any faults with a diagnostics reader.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I think you are correct in your assumption , there's been a few faulty seat belt tensioners on here lately ! And the symptoms point to that too !

I haven't got round to replacing the tensioner just yet.

An interesting finding though, if I turn off the pax air bag, I don't get any warning noise at all, not even intermittently.

but that means in an accident the airbag will not deploy on the passenger side !!! if your not getting the airbag light on the dash when the chime is going just get the car coded to disable the chime. i have done it to several z4's

I realise the airbag will not deploy, I do this intentionally when my daughter is in the car on a rare occasion. That's good to know that you can change the coding to disable the chime, does that mean the chime won't sound for anything else though?
