Passenger door not opening

Hi all,

I am after some advice for the passenger door on my '03 2.5 zed which has decided to unlock but not open with either inside or outside handles.
It seems to open initially on first use of the day but thereafter will lock and unlock (i can hear the mechanism shifting and the knob moves up and down) but it just wont open.
I certainly hope it is a schoolboy error on my part and your advice/help would be appreciated. :| :| :| :headbang: :headbang:
 
I had the same problem a few years back. The issue was a snaped steel cable that connects the door lock to the door handles.

Did you fix it yourself or have done for you by indy/stealer.

If you fixed it was it a straight forward job?

If you paid for the repair can you remember the cost?
 
I got it fixed by an indy cause u need some "special" bmw tool.
I paid abt 100 euros in total including labor. The part was 20 euro and the rest was labour :thumbsdown:

the tool in question is the cable tensionner, a tool not available anywhere but the BMW dealers.
 
Think i'll try a bit of lubricating first and if this fails it'll be a trip to the garage. :cry:
Could be worse so I'll grin and bear it as it's a seven year old car.....I'll still love her in the morning :oops:
