Passenger door intermittently not opening?

My passenger door sometimes does not want to let my passenger out :x

It seems to stop working if i sometimes use the windows or roof switch ie: when i have the roof down (only sometimes though) ??? Then i can get it working again if i start playing around with the window switches or the roof switch :? Never remember the sequence though but does eventually open again. I know its definitely connected to me using the switches as it never does it other-wise?

When it doesn't work and i pull the door handle to open it makes the lock pop up but won't open.

Hope i make sense?

When it doesn't open, it can't be opened either from the inside or out.

Anyone experienced this before?
 
Mine sometimes sticks but only from the outside and only when it's hot so sounds like a completely different problem
 
Most likely the GM5 module (very common problem).

Other forum members pointed me to this guy - http://www.bmwgm5.info - lovely guy called Colin, knows his stuff, repaired it for me for £70 (as opposed to £400 from BMW for a new module). You can remove it yourself (small box under the glove box, just unplugs) and send it to him in the post, or if you're local to him (Hampshire/Berkshire) you can go to his place and get it done and get a free cup of tea whilst you wait.
 
Just found out today from my local indy it sounds like a stretched bowden cable, possibly a new actuator? Been quoted about £180 inc vat (£100+ for the actuator & cable and 1 hour labour). I've noticed there are bowden cables on ebay, can these just be replaced or are they attached to the actuator? Also what role does an actuator play as the door does lock/unlock? A module repair service on ebay says if it's just the one door playing up it's not the module. The door handle has totally packed in today.

Don't know about the Bowden cable, but as for it not being the module if it's only one door at fault, I'd say that's wrong as it was only my passenger door playing up and the GM5 module repair fixed it.

This sounds to me like a mechanical problem, not electrical or GM5 related. I agree with the mechanic's diagnosis that it's the bowden cable or something to do with the actual locking mechanism.
