Passenger Airbag

Can you have a disarm key thing fitted to a 2.2i 2004 Z4? As mine didn't come with one or is there anything I can do to get it sorted so I can put a baby seat in the passenger side?

Don't know if this helps, page 35 can't say I've noticed it on my car but then I've never looked.

See I keep getting mixed answers with this I want a straight yes or no whether if I pay to have it done can I have one fitted or is there a way of having the airbag deactivated?

Not sure what you're asking. Stick the ignition key into the switch and turn it off to fit a child seat.

Ah, ok. The cut off switch is standard this side of the pond. Sorry for the confusion.

Mine doesn't have it. The first owner was a single guy so perhaps it woudl have been outside his comfort zone to fit one...

IMHO this is a question of a dealer as it's breaking into the airbag circuit and very few individulas or Indy's seem capable of touching that circuitry without problems.

Here you go.. Says 40 euros?

Ask your dealer for 61 31 0 411 229 and see if there's a guide to installation.. hard to tell from that pic but doubt it's more than an hour..

I wonder if the dealer will fit it for me as I am no whizz kid with fitting stuff like this and would want their approved mechanics to do it as then at least I have slight comfort when putting my daughter in the passenger seat.

I'm sure if it was an option on that side of the pond, the dealer will be able to do it. I'm with you, though, messing around with an airbag circuit would be left to the dealer. There's just too much at stake.

Good luck.

Parts including VAT about £60-£75 and with labour at the one in Chelmsford its about £125 an hour and he recons he could take a couple of hours. But it can definatly be done! :D
