Is it a T-bar or have you seen the light and become a coupe man!?

bmwaddict said:Ah, maybe it was the Triumph I was thinking about. I remember talking about the MR2 with you as well, always liked the Mk.2's and wanted one.
Gotta love a GT6 though! Gorgeous looking car. Thats why I like the E86, reminds me of British "baby" GTs/coupe sports cars from the 60s and 70s, Triumph/Ginetta/Marcos/TVR etc.
2 door? Hard top? Roof dips behind B pillar? You have a coupe!![]()

I miss my old MR2's I had two MK 1's back in the day, wished I'd kept the Mica blue T bar. I had a Turbo import for a day but the turbo blew on the way home and went back to the dealer, shame![]()

If your coming to AV8 next week Mike, I will have it there.
Having just said that found this one. Sadly automatic but look at that engineraymond.harper said:I have had 3 MR2's in my time. Two I had imported from Japan when it was worthwhile from a financial view to do it. One of the best handling cars I have ever driven. Sadly they used to be commonplace but now getting a bit rare and suffering the same fate as older cars. The rarest one was the one with a Beams engine. Saw one last week in Japan but they wanted £5000 for it.

Beams is a very desirable engine.
My car is an import (G LTD) model, so comes with A/C and folding mirrors, I have all the history from Japan and up to when I bought it.

It most certainly is yes Firebobby, it's the holy grail of N/A engines in the MR2 from factory. They used it in the celica as well plus a couple of others but I can't remember off hand what they were. There were two variants of the Beams, a red top and black top. The earlier red top had VVT-I on the inlet valves pushing 197bhp and the year or so later the black top had VVT-I on both inlet and exhaust pushing power up to 207bhp. They're ultra rare as IIRC they only popped them in the REV5 cars from 1998 I think it was. I suppose the V6 you can use from the Camry is the better option from a power and torque point of view but out of the two from choice I'd put a Beams in mine just for the rarity.

You know your cars John![]()
Some of the guys on the forum have the V6 fitted, it sounds right for the MR2 imho and fits like a glove. There are a few fitting V8's too, they have gone for the Audi V8.

Which forum are you on firebobby? I wouldn't mind having a look on it, especially as I'm going to restore mine when I'm fit again.
