Passanger airbag dash light

Hi guys wondering if anyone knows the fix for this. Over Christmas someone reversed into my passanger door. Had it repaired at the weekend but as I drove off from the repair garage noticed the passanger airbag light on the dash, so went back to the garage but the guy couldnt figure out how to reset? obviously due to the door panel being off it needs to be reset. Took it to his other garage where it got plugged into a computer he could reset everything apart from the airbags sensors.... Has anyone had the same issue or know a fix? I have a Z4 2004 E85 2.2i

Anything would be great

Welcome to the ALAO (airbag light always on) club Kalvin !
There are a few postings up on this subject. Quite a few in fact.
It appears to be usually due to either a defective seat pressure mat or some interruption to the battery supply like a jump start. In your case some wiring could have been disconnected. If so,that should be resettable using a diagnostic cable. Maybe guys more expert than can advise ?

you just need the reset tool to take the light off, or an indy can do it for a few quid.
If there is no fault still present, and it was just cos the door card was removed then it should reset ok.
While the light is on, none of your airbags will work in a collision as the system shuts down until the light is cleared.
Also an airbag light remaining on, is now an MOT fail in this years test.

Can i ask how you got it repaired?-did it need filling?-were you happy with the result?-thanks

Thanks for the feedback guys. I got a new door panel fitted and sprayed the repair garage done a great job, even took out a couple of stone dents and touched up some stone chips. Since then the garage has been back in touch and due to the car hitting mine being a hire car (euro car) they are footing the bill for the lot. My car is getting picked up tomorrow night and taken to BMW Dundee to be fixed (hopefully) he did mention something about disconnecting the battery. Seems a bit overkill for what it actually is!!!

Yeah found that out today as I was booking my car in today for new front pads... all I know is the door was taken off and replaced with a new panel and sprayed. The guy who done the work was positive all was reconnected in the door. Hopefully BMW can reset
