parts from breaker

Hi guys,

I was about to order the parts for my roof (roof motor and insulation housing) for my 03 Z4. A friend of mine tipped me onto ebay and suggested I contact a guy breaking an 08 Z4. Do you think the motor and housing would fit my 03 model? Brand new the parts are coming in at £315 so wanted to check what you guys thought before I went ahead. (havent got a price from breaker - have contacted him so waiting for a reply).

Yep.. the motor was sealed in a facelift car but then the replacement bmw part should be too.

Do it ! Only problem is, I bet the breaker wants more than £315.
 
many years back i would buy all sorts from breakers, they were cheap, now i find they are that dear i would prefer to buy new, least you know its not worn out
 
well, the breaker just got back to me and said he wouldn't sell the part separately - its the whole roof or nothing :(

So back to the dealers. £315 is not bad - got 15% discount thanks to Leon and the Z4 forum.

yes - I agree safer going by dealer - although they have told me that if I get it and don't need it (for whatever reason), I cannot return it as it is a special order. Only a few left in Germany, and it's making a special trip over to the UK :)

Don't think a new roof would cost 2k from a dealer
 
thats cars been up for breaking for at least 6 months, maybe longer.

Assuming those are correct pics..
