Parts availability - BMW Direct

Whilst away my good lady used the Zed - no problem and it ensures it gets a run and she enjoys the drive. HOWEVER when exiting she caught the drivers sill protector (Illuminated. Yes I know but I like 'em!) and damaged it (big scratch and dent.......).
Now being a bit OCD about these things I just had to change it. Contacted several dealers who told me it was no longer available. Went online to BMW Direct who said 12 days delivery from Germany and try to their word it arrived on the 12th day. Full marks to BMW direct and why can,t BMW UK use the same service......! :?

a lot of dealers don't fancy going to the effort of ordering parts in from oversea's, so they just say it's no longer available.

had the same thing happen when i wanted opel bits on a corsa i used to own.
