Partly dead Z4

After a couple of weeks my 2003 Z4 did not start, loading the battery did the trick but now the roof cannot be opened and I have no power on the entire dashboard. The rest seems to work fine, I was also able to make a ride. With the roof closed and no idea if I was speeding :|

I guess it must be some common cause but have no idea were to start searching.

Just thought actually maybe you blew a fuse or two whilst you were trying to get charge into it, would explain certain systems being completely dead

Glad you got it sorted OP. I had a dodgy battery on mine. After 2 days wouldn't start. Took it to halfords to test the battery... they said it was OK. Couple of days later, car dead. Semi convinced I had a battery drain, I changed the battery. No issues since even when car hasn't been driven for a week. I agree with what the others say it seems to be very sensitive to a bad battery. Saying that my old CTR was fine one day going to the supermarket and back then wouldn't start after. Same problem. Maybe all modern cars need a good battery.

I suggest you check you havent got a paristic drain on the battery i had exactly same symptoms as you but told battery ok except for fact it would drain flat if parked up for a couple of days. Futher investigation on the forum indicated can be a common issue the stereo head unit is a known issue and was causing a 0.5amp drain on the battery so i fitted a kill switch between the battery and the stereo that elimated the head unit drain but i still have another drain to identify and resolve just not had time to pull the 50 or so fuses to identify the problem circuit. If i drive the car regularly i dont have a problem.
