I'm actually 90% through installing a Parrott MKi9100 (I didn't want the large screen). Everything works very well - iPhone, USB etc cables routed to glovebox, screen on RHS above the air vent. Not decided where to put the remote yet. I've tested it and the sound was good and the phone seemed fime.

I'll get the job finished later this evening when I've got the free time.

It is installed using a special adapter cable which Parrott sells from their website. Everything is automated, muting etc. There is a separate remote control and screen to control the ipod music/phone functions, and the stereo is muted when you do this, turning back on when you stop/end a call etc.

I have one problem - with my iPhone - the ipod sound doesn't always come on and it makes some strange noises. Other sources are OK. I think it is because I'm on the 3.0 firmware (the bluetooth music streaming works just great). I'm off to search the Parrott forums to find how to update my Parrott kit firmware to fix it.

Update: iPhone problem now solved by updating Parrot kit firmware (easy to do - just download file to USB stick, connect to car kit, select update from menu).

Just had a quick google of this:

Do you plug your iphone into the parrot or stream music over bluetooth? As far as I know, the iPhone doesn't do bluetooth streaming, so guess its the cable option: So, does it charge your iPhone 3g?

Thanks

Paul

Yep I've had one for six months now. once updated to the latest firmware it's great!

Sweet! This seems by far the best option to add an ipod/iphone to the standard stereo! Can you navigate playlists properly using the parrot remote, or limited functionality?

You can do both. iPhone firmware 3.0 supports bluetooth audio streaming. It 'just works'. I have an iPhone 3G (not and 'S'). You control the music through the phone in this case. You can also connect to the cable and control through the Parrot remote control which is easier and safer, but not as pretty (you get artists/albums/playlists but not as quick/slick as the Apple touchscreen).

OK, I am putting my recommendation for this kit on hold. Whenever I'm using any device via the music connectors, Bluetooth audio streaming, or if I use the phone, my airbag warning light comes on and the indicators stop working (lord knows what else stops working). There must be some kind of interference. I have a support request into Parrot. I didn't go near anything or touch/remove/cut any wires installing the kit - it all just plugged in with the adaptor. I'm on the latest firmware too.

Will report back.

Yep, I've got the 9200 fitted in my 3.0 SE, and bar some teething problems with it initially, the iPod integration is superb...however....

For some reason i'm having massive difficulty in updating the software so that it functions with my iPhone correctly....you see you're supposed to download the new software from the Parrot website (which I've done no probs) then after switching the filename about a bit and putting it into a new folder, put it onto a memory stick, then plug it into the system in the car....but, when I plug mine in it just sits there and says "awaiting update" constantly, almost as if it's not reading off the memory stick... :x

This is infuriatingly annoying, and I'm currently trying to blag another stick off of a mate so I can see if it's that, that is the issue!

Anyone any ideas??

Is the stick formatted in the correct format? Fat32 / NTFS?

Have you cleared the stick except for the one update folder?

Just things to try...

I found updating easy. I used an existing USB stick I use for presentations/work, and even left all the files on it. I installed and ran the Parrot update program which downloaded the update and placed it in a new folder at the root level. Plugged it in, went to the relevant menu on the Parrot and it just worked.

I couldn't get beyond "awaiting update" at first then realised i hadn't renamed the downloaded file to: MKi9000.plf once realised my mistake like Tref said it worked no probs.

Tref: Your problem sounds really strange! Sounds more like installation issue rather than a fault of the kit as it's not related to any of those systems. could be a short? dunno.

OK, I've sorted mine. Took the control unit out and away from the car's loom and tried it - no difference. Then decided to swap over the mute cable (three choices on where to plug it). Worked. All seems dandy as far as i have tested it now. Phew.
