Parrot group buy?

Is anything happening with this one ? Need a kit sooner rather then later for the latest car I bought.

Well, we all pay Mattt and he disappears with the money :D

Can work in different ways. It could be that a company accepts say 5 orders at a reduced price and we buy direct from that company stating that we are buying in the "Mattt" group buy.

As long as I get a VAT invoice, I am happy. Must try to work out what connector lead I need though ...

CK3100 seems to be around the £80 mark incl VAT, excl delivery.

Hi Matt

It's not something we could do directly but I could facilitate via a Distributor.

I'll need to know:

* Which kits
* How many
* Is installation required?
o if so, need the following answered too
+ will this be at individual locations or at a central meeting point?
+ What vehicles
+ Do they have standard or aftermarket car audio equipment in their cars? If none standard need to know what they have as the correct interface lead will need to be supplied also

So what can this do then?

Would my iPhone talk to the Parrot via bluetooth, and then the Parrot to my car via cables, and my radio/controls back to the iPhone via bluetooth?

All very confusing :D

Dave

I'm still interested in this, if I don't reply when something is sorted (might miss the post) someone PM me ;)

The phone talks to the Parrot via bluetooth, the parrot talks to the radio via a hardwired cable (mute signal and voice).

edit: just checked, the parrot ck3100 seems fine, you can pick them up for £80 as stated above so he can beat that :)

Cheers

So could I use my MFSW to control the radio, which the Parrot can see, and tell the iPhone to skip track for instance?

Just a shame that it's over bluetooth wrt audio signal, I guess that means there are limitations to the audio quality!? Or will it still be a good signal quality?

Dave

The iPhone's bluetooth is very limited (more than most phones), you can't do anything involving the music via it, that includes streaming or controling the headunit/parrot. It's only recently that you've even been able to transfer pictures via the bluetooth, and that has been a standard feature on any other brand of phone for ~5 years.

The Parrot is for making calls handfree. The 'control' aspect is just a mute signal and a line-out for voice, you can get a harness to connect a Parrot to the headunit (for use of the MFSW) but I haven't checked if that will work with this particular model of parrot or whether it is included in the box.

I think you'd need something like the CONNECTS2 kit in this auction

Think there is only an ISO connector included. That is sufficient for my needs but I have not checked if you need a SOT cable for the BMW.

from the brief reading I just did the ISO only gives a mute signal and line-out, so offers mute when calling/receiving and voice through the cars speakers.

That is my interpretation as well, and that is exactly what I need for my car project.

Just for info - I really need to get one on order end of next week though ...

yup, exactly what I need too, to be honest the muting is an added bonus really :)

The bluetooth on teh iphone is limited but you can stream music to some devices. I can do it through my io play by simply playing the music when the phone is connected. It also works for hands free calling via bluetooth.

Sadly I cant change the track with my MFSW though or answer calls.

I hadn't heard of anything that can stream music, it obviously treats it as a headset and just sends sound as opposed to controls. They are adding more features all the time, it's just surprising considering how good the iPhone is in every other area that the bluetooth is so weak in comparison.
