Parking

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to car parks and other peoples driving abilities, so even in my daily driver motor, in supermarket car parks etc I always park between two spaces, never take the Z to supermarkets. But going away in the Z for a few days I'm really nervous of where I'll have to park it, so my question is ,if I park in a pay and display car park between two spaces and buy two tickets, is that allowed , and if so will it upset some scroat who may do some damage anyway.

Chuck a kids booster seat in the boot, then leave it on display and use the extra wide, Mother & Child spaces that have the Chevrons between them...

I think we're all the same but parking in 2 spaces is a no-no for me.

I believe that the 'offence' often cited is not parking within marked bays, so buying two tickets won't get you off.

If you're that anal about parking your car - don't take it.

If its a Local Authority car park then parking outside a marked bay or stradelling the line will land you with a fine and possibly being clamped if a private pay and display. Best finding an end bay then at least your narrowing the chances by 50%. Also using two spaces on a busy car park someone will inevitably try and squeeze in next to you no matter how small the space. Not worth it.

I think the same , just try not to park next to a scrapper or or people carrier .even when the car park is empty I come out and some one has parked next to me !

Clearly a few folk who've never use parent and child spaces with child seat and a genuine child, you still get Sh!t! I used to take my nephews out but I've found I get abuse from folk who think that driving a convertible means you don't have kids with you, they leave trollies next to your car and I've even had them park across the chevrons basically making it impossible to get my nephew into the passanger seat.

I was just reminiscing about it yesterday when I was at one of the places that happened to twice!

Unfortunately as said, if your worried then taking the car will be difficult. You just have to block it out, occupy yourself with something else. I get paranoid in the car park where I live as the tools who can't park seem to struggle to get out their spaces across from me. I go out in the GTR and worry what might happen to my car when I'm out. I went to London and was worried about birds crapping all over it and I'll be the same when it's time for Silverstone next month and we are away in the GTR as someone will be parked nex to me the entire time I'm away and parked like a tool!

I just have to get over it and know that of something happens its not my fault and if it happen it happens. Yes it's annoying as hell but as I get older I know it's just a car, yes a car I've spent a lot of money on and one that I adore dearly but it's not the be all and end all of life.

Look for an end of the row space or one that's far away in the car park. If it has extra space at one side of the bay then park closer to that. Parking across two bays is just inconsiderate even though you're trying to protect your car.

It's annoying when they get dinked or knocked but it can be fixed.

Cindy has a set of these for the X3 - take up virtually no room in the boot and work very well at stopping car park dings.

She's only got one set (protects one side of the car) as it's usually possible to find a parking space where only one side is vulnerable

On the rare occasion I had put my Zed in a public car park I would park miles away from everyone else and just face a bit of a walk.

I think you should stop being so inconsiderate and if it really worries you that much about others driving abilities, then don't drive! Get a bus, get a shed of a car to drive, park further away and walk, hell, even get a push bike. Just stop being selfish and inconsiderate to other road users (regardless of their ability). Next pointless topic!

Damage in a car park can be the result of carelessness or malice. By occupying two bays you may avoid carelessness, but your car will be a magnet for malice, especially if the car park is crowded.

I should imagine your car is just as likely to be damaged in traffic as in a car park. You can only be completely safe if you just leave it in the garage and ogle it from time to time.

Low-speed damage to paintwork is easy enough to have repaired. In the final analysis, it's only a car. :poke:

Parking accross two bays is out of order, extremely selfish. Ironic that you fear parking in case another motorist is as inconsiderate as you.

I never park on a public car park other than the local supermarket during the evening when it's quiet.
Even then I park at the back on the assumption everyone else is too lazy to walk.
When I do park, i occupy two spaces..why?
Because you still get some numbskull who still want's to park a foot and half away from drivers door and stops you getting in.
A few times I have parked in the space, only to be followed by someone parking next to me, so I have pulled back and parked elsewhere.
They have usually been in a works van.

Still got my door banged by the 'censored' neighbour at the flats I live at. Week before she left.

When I take out my elderly mother I park in the kiddy spaces.
The local supermarket has a small (close to the doors) and large car park.
When sat in the café you can see joe public (usually large wimen) struggling to reverse into the spaces in the fully occupied small car park. Quite comical at times to them struggle to get in and out of their car.
When there's an empty football field size car park at the side!
