Parking tickets...

Had to share this with you as everyone in the office is having a chuckle over it (although its a serious matter... The person it affects makes it funny)

So a couple of months ago the boss parked in a pay and display area. Puts his ticket on display, gets back to see a warden putting a ticket on his car, even though he had over 30mins left on his pay and display. He gives him a good telling to, and the warden says sorry forget about it and rips it up.

A couple of weeks later he gets a letter saying he hasnt paid.... So goes off for a few hours to complain to the council office. Comes back satisfied the matter is over.

And then today he has had the bailiffs after him! The small ticket has escalated to a couple of hundreds somehow too.

I actually feel sorry for the council and bailiffs now as they really have picked the wrong person to victimise!

Our local rag helpfully informed us all that it is cheaper to get a parking ticket than stay in the council car park all day! Ok, only by one pound...

So that must mean the traffic warden still submitted something (carbon copy??) after tearing up your bosses part? Thats sneaky - I suspect he did that to avoid a confrontation with your boss - (who was in the right). Expect the pay and display ticket (evidence) has gone now as well, and they can deny tearing the ticket up!

Slimy gits!

Saw an interesting article in BBC today - about dodgy tickets:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-24194533

Which reminded me to update this topic... The parking authority agreed to write off the additional charges but said the parking ticket was still valid, and that no CCTV footage was available but that the ticket was also backed with photographic evidence!!

This has finally gone to court the first hearing was last week and the next is a few weeks time, for the sake of £60 and the principle of the matter. Not sure how he will win, without any evidence, but as the date gets closer we hear more and more about it!

I had a parking ticket silly issue once, 2 parking tickets for the same offence. I paid the first and explained why I then was not going to pay the next (my policeman friend told me they couldn't do this). I had not returned to nor moved the car in the interval. They kept pushing it. I went to court represented myself and won. The council argued that my tyre valves were in different positions the 2nd time (utter rubbish as I had not been to the car). I looked at the judge and said "I'm a doc working at the local hospital, do you honestly think I would go to my car see a ticket on it, get in drive around and re-park in exactly the same spot?" (All the while hand gestures). He said "no, you've won". Was a great feeling!!! Highly recommend

I got a parking ticket in Northampton for parking out with the bay area.... backed up by photo evidence...

I fought it and won, as their spaces are too small for my car, leaving me no choice, plus they are sneakily under the 'parking guideline size' for that area...

6 cars in a 200+ car park and they still go after people.... lol

You don't work for the council if you had a brain ...

That’s a hell of a sweeping statement to make, and very inaccurate. :x

I work for the Council and so does my wife, both of us and a lot of my colleagues are very highly qualified, highly skilled and experienced individuals, please don’t generalise and tar us all with the same brush.

I have worked in the private sector most of my working life and believe me there are people who appear to be as you say ‘brainless’ in all organisations not just local authorities.

Same goes for me! I have met totally inept individuals in ALL walks of life. The vast majority of Council employees I have met have been polite, helpful and very efficient!

Absolutely!!

This ridiculous, inaccurate, perception that the general public have of people that work for the ‘Council’ makes me so angry :headbang:

There was an article online on how to contest parking tickets based on incorrect markings, wrong sized spaces etc. and the guy went baiting the parking enforcement people just so he could make a point. It was amazing how many councils try it on.

If I can find it I'll post the link.

Can't find it but this is related and a useful site http://ticketfighter.co.uk
