Parking Sensors

My parking sensors do not work - i hear beeps when i put the car into reverse..is this normal?

Any thoughts?

No beeps from mine when I put it in reverse
I think there is a thread on here that says put it in reverse with just ignition on and put your ear next to them - if they are working you will hear them 'clicking'
I'm sure someone with more experience will be along shortly

Check the sensors one by one.

Put the car in reverse (do not start of cause ….). Listen at each sensor and hear if it clicks. If it does not click, it is the faulty one.

I thought if you hear beeps when putting it into reverse you have at least one faulty sensor. As PVR said check them individually.

my car beeps when i 1st select reverse gear, but it had sensors from new, and previous owner put a new bumper on and didn't reuse the sensors so they are just left behind/inside rear bumper...

assuming the beep means there's a fault with the sensors(either unconnected or constantly reading a near object... the inside bumper) is there anyway of removing the bumper and checking this or does the long beep when i select reverse just mean there broken?

You sure the sensors are there? Would have thought just the wires would be there and the sensors themselves flogged on ebay ...

I would agree with pvr... The sensor wire is pretty long and cumbersome... If removing them i would have removed the loom and sensors and sold the sensors... They go for about £10 each genuine painted!!

Hi guys, any recommendations where to buy some replacement sensors once the faulty ones have been identified?

Cheers

Does anyone do a complete set of four for a package price (and painted to suit) ?
- I've got a similar problem and just want to change all four rather than mess about.

Anyone previously done a group buy for complete sets ? :poke:

I had the exact same issue. Spent a good while trying to diagnose the faulty sensor and they all clicked normally with my ear to them. I really didn't fancy paying silly money to get someone to diagnose the problem nor the hassle of installing and painting new sensors and a controller. In the end I just got the garage to disable them during my service, I didn't find them useful as you're basically sitting in the boot anyway. I had also become too complacent with the false positive beeps that I might've ended up running someone over if I left them!

Now some front sensors would be useful

if you have someone with inpa, they can check the sensors and tell you which aren't working.
only 2 min job.

people sell the sensors on ebay for not a lot of money.

Just be sure you buy OEM, used or new. Aftermarket sensors dont work as they should.
As said before inpa tells quickly which one is faulty.
