Hi All,

I have a faulty parking sensor on the back of my E86 coupe and I am trying to buy a replacement on eBay tonight so i can get if off to a bodyshop this weekend for spraying.

Anyone changed one before and/or know what size shape they should be?? I have seen some that are straight with the connector on the end and others that are L shaped. I am thinking its going to be the L shaped one but not 100% sure....

I would try and check with BMW but looking to get one tonight if poss so hoping you will know!?

Another option is to remove the fuse and forget about them!!!!! I found them totally annoying and not necessary as your not sat far from the rear of the car :driving:

Haha! love the alternative options but I am only after a standard sensor as I have a bodyshop who owe me a favour. They will spray it along with a couple of other bits that I am having replaced.

I haven't checked out the wiring but have read lots about faulty ones and that you can hear them clicking etc..it all points to a single sensor.

Is anyone able to confirm if they are the L shaped ones like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/66206989068-Parking-Sensor-for-BMW-E39-E46-E60-E61-E65-E66-E83-X3-3-5-7-Series-/281761575679?fits=Car+Make%3ABMW%7CModel%3AZ4%7CCars+Year%3A2006%7CPlat_Gen%3AE86%7CCars+Type%3A3.0+SI&hash=item419a4c72ff

ive just refitted a whole set of these, i needed 4 new sensors (managed to get all 4 off a breaking Z off ebay for £40) then only 1 worked so i tried them in all combinations and turned out all 4 sensors worked but it was the connector that had corroded inside, and only the 3rd connector was working, if you can take the bumper off id suggest trying a working sensor in the connector that's not currently working (just to rule out if its the sensor, or connector).
i needed a whole new rear connector wire loom which i managed to get off ebay for £20 and it was simply a case of unplugging the old 1 and plugging in the new 1, i was amazed at how easy it was and even more amazed it all worked 1st time!

they are the "L" shaped sensors in the pic, but im not sure if they all fit universal so would try and make sure there off a Z in the 1st place...

hope that helps
