Parking sensors 🤦‍♂️

Like an idiot I forgot about BMW options list! Assumed, wrongly, that parking sensors would be standard, turns out nope! So anyone any good options for aftermarket ones?

The oem ones can be retrofitted to the car. AnubisZed has a walk through on youtube.

I have not needed them after six years, you get used to the dimensions pretty quick.

As above.....Dave (AnubisZed) is THE man for retrofitting shite like this.

PDC is a must have for an E89 IMHO. You can't see jack out of the bloody things, especially the front as it seems to point upwards! :?

Yes you do get used to it in time, but surprisingly I added it to my car years after I owned it.

OK, so I've done it both ways.
Firstly the aftermarket version. I added these for my rear only and in conjunction with my Android screen at the time. This type will still work without a screen and have a separate speaker for audio. These are straightforward to fit and there is no coding required.

Now after that I decided I wanted OEM PDC both front and rear, so went for a full retrofit. But you do have to do some coding of the system. Again though these will work without the screen (Android or iDrive), the sound then comes through the audio system speakers.

Personally I prefer the OEM proper PDC, I find it especially useful where I park at home (for anyone who's come to me for a retrofit before will appreciate that!), this works very well indeed with my rear camera (now viewed through the OEM integration and not my MMI box) as well.

um bit complicated for me, but guessing my garage can do! Has anyone fitted a basic aftermarket camera? did see an option for something in the number plate.

also don't have the posh radio system with the screen, to be fair didn't want the idrive setup, should have been a clue with the sensors!

Dave, was it easy to fit the reverse camera with the OEM iDrive system? I've just fitted one in my RCZ, so, I've kind of gone camera crazy :crazydude:

The fitting of the camera is straightforward, this then works with an emulator box that mimics the OEM BMW camera system controller. There is coding to do and it must be OEM PDC for it to work. I am supposed to be making a video on this but I've been very busy with non-Z4 jobs most of this year so just haven't had time.
