parking mirrors

Hello from a new Z4 owner :)

Stupid question probably but I have searched the forum and cant find an answer.

My passenger door mirrordips when I put it into reverse but the drivers side door doesn't; is this normal, and if it is can anything be retro-fitted to make the drivers door mirror dip??

Many thanks in advance!!

Only the passenger side dips in reverse and that's selectable using the mirror selection switch on the driver door. Never heard of a retro fit for the drivers mirror.

I believe as you are supposed to park on a road in the direction of travel (highway code) only the left can dip to help your view of the parking space while the right remains static to facilitate your view of oncoming traffic from the rear/right as you manoeuvre.

I have just checked the manual. Turning the switch to driver side enables the feature.

if it is an installed option on the car, don't think this is a standard function, certainly works ok on mine, if you have the option then it sounds like a trip to BMW :o

Wow, BMW really do take the options list to a silly level!

:) OP says it's driver side that's the problem? Mine is the same way, only the passenger side dips. Regardless of how I have the mirror selector set.
Besides, convertibles are perfect if you have a neck like a Giraffe. I suppose the bugs in the teeth would be a drawback.

Yeah, but was actually responding to shambolic, sorry OP, got the impression his passenger mirror wasn't dipping. Am i correct in this assumption?
