Bit of a rant i'm afraid...

Went to sainsbury first thing this morning 10am as it opened... Parked at the back car miles away... Car park 90% empty.

Get back and see a door ding... Car park about 80% still empty :headbang:

So some f**ktard parked miles away next to my car and opened their door into it :headbang: :headbang:

Not only a ding some paint damage too.... Grrrrrr

Couple of years ago paid £80 to remove a couple then too and been so careful since... Time my shopping early and late when its empty!

Unbelievable how one can park miles from anyone, yet you get back to your car and someone's parked alongside with millions of free spaces :headbang:

I feel your frustration aquazi. My car came back from its service, with rim damage :(

I feel your pain. I parked up yesterday in a full-ish car park so picked the nicest car to park next to in the hope that they'd be careful opening doors etc.

Imagine my horror when I came back to find this minging monster parked up so close :o

Fortunately no damage or I'd have waited for the owners return...

Edit - I took pics in case I found damage when I got home and could actually get to the side of the car...

Are you 100% it was done on the car park at that time, just seems odd unless someone deliberately did the deed. If it bothers you like it does me then get a second car or do all your shopping online and never go out :D

I have constant parking fear with the zed. So many idiots just don't have a clue. I've had a few dings in my time and I know how guy wrenching it is....

Hardly ever go to the supermarket in the Zed. No point really as any reasonable weekly trolley's worth will not fit into the Zed.

Sometimes call in for something we've forgotten but otherwise no point. Well if you're married with kids that is, maybe a young free and single Zed driver could fit a weeks shopping in it. Although no way what am I talking about? A weeks worth of beer for a single man will not fit nor will a weeks worth of toiletries and shoes for a sinlgle lady.

Ironically i have a company car too.. But had to get some supplies so though i'd drop the roof as its so nice!

As you Tim i'd totally dumbfounded how it could happen... But def happened there as i cleaned the car last weekend and it hasnt been used since.. So it either happened there or my driveway.

Dont think it was deliberate.. Just some fat arse inconsiderate passenger opened the door into my car :(

Took a pic... Seems trivial i know but it has really wound me up this morning!

Its amazing how things happen though, when I had a Suzuki Swift I parked at a supermarket and saw this girl park next to mine and could have sworn she knocked her door against mine, she walked off and there was a dent about the size of 50 pence, I just couldn't work out how she had managed to dent my car like that. I then did some thinking and the penny dropped, I had parked earlier in the day at a hotel car park next door to a golf club and the dent was perfectly round :headbang:

Sorry to see this mate, at least it will come out. This is why I hate taking my car around town. I have a rule if its under 5 miles I will try my best to use my mums car to drive there!

I find that in my local supermarket car park there tends to be an area at the far end where higher value cars park. The owners are more careful than your average and so far my zed hasn't suffered any dings in my weekly shopping trips.

My zed will swallow a weeks shopping with ease :? maybe I need to swap to an MX5 :o

This is my usual shopping parking spot, I've never had anyone park next to me in 7 years or so as its a quiet small supermarket, however I will avoid the likes of Tesco/Asda etc like the plague,

End of the day you just have to accept that your average Joe doesn't give a fig as they see a car as purely to get them from A to B.

Is it a Lidl or an Aldi? :poke:

Sometimes think people do it on purpose ... As the dings I've picked up recently are deep into the front wings. I mean how hard do these tits open their doors if it isn't on purpose? I picked one up in Bournemouth last weekend as parking was tight so multi storey was all I could find :-( happens nearly every single time I park it next to somebody at the moment as it is a rare occurrence that I do :???:

Not to make excuses. But. One thing to think about. The doors on cars these days use paper thin steel. Yet they weigh a freaking tonne due to all the air bags, speakers, Electric motors and actuators. I think some of the door ding dilemma is down to the fact that on some of these cars. One has to push hard to get the door open. Of course speed and momentum being what it is. If you loose grip of the door. Bam! Door ding. Also. Part of the issue is the fact that the car park spaces are marked in such a way that a smart car is a tight fit. After all. Aldi's or whom ever will try to fit 150 cars into a lot that should only hold 100.
A lot of folks that accidentally ding a door will just walk away instead of doing the right thing. Of course the insurance companies T & C's don't help. If one does do the right thing and leave a note. The insurance company will punish them for years to come.

Sympathies to all...

I'm keeping myself fit walking further to the supermarket building having parked defensively. My wife is now brilliant at choosing a suitable space and we have our favourites.

Find it difficult to accept that the Zed has a 'small' boot - :o

my 2006 facelift swallows vast amounts of stuff - always thought that for a 'sportscar' the boot was excellent?! :driving:

Another factor is that the Z is a 2-door car, whereas most of the other cars that we park next to will be 4-door. This means that when someone in a car next to us opens their door carelessly, there is a good chance that the edge of their door will hit the middle of our door - which more likely to show a dent than the edges.
