Every german has a lawyer insurance (almost mandatory), it is quite common to end up in court for a tree in your garden ...
Be careful over there !

How true. My friends across the street from me are in such a battle. The tree is a naturally seeded pine and is well in their yard. But it casts a shadow over their neighbors veg garden in the afternoon. And he wants it gone. My friends said if you pay to have it removed. Then be our guest. But no. He wants to go to court. The court has already said the bad neighbor has no standing. But is allowed by law to have his case heard. What he doen't seem to understand is that if he looses he pays the court fees. Which amount to much more than the cost of just paying to remove it.
Go figure. I seem to be the only one he does not give grief to.

He does not care, the insurance will pay for it.
These insurances are not only paying the lawyer if you have to defend yourself, you can also attack for "free".
 
Sounds like Germany is not much different from the Netherlands then :roll: That tree story applies to us too. You can't even remove a tree from your own garden without having permission from your local council, and requesting permission is not free of charge of course.

And yes I have lawyer insurance too, not uncommon here.
