Parking Brake problem with 6017 error code

After being away for 2 weeks on holiday, I was having battery related problems (though I could always start and drive the car OK). After going for a decent run a few days ago to hopefully give the battery a good charge, I parked up and then got the yellow parking brake error light. My local garage plugged in their gizmo which showed the 6017 code (attached I hope). I note the the terminal 15 voltage shows as 10V which does not sound right to me.
I frightened by reports that the whole EMF might cost hundreds of pounds, and hope there is another issue. I read of software updates that might clear the problem but not sure if that applies to my model.

Any thoughts welcome.....................thanks

Looks like poor connection to the wheel speed sensor plug or possibly a wheel speed sensor fault.

I’d be inclined to get it on live readings and spin the wheel to see which one isn’t giving a signal then start searching from there.

A new battery and a software update normally fixes this.
It has happened to quite a few people now and it usually occurs when the battery is old.

Thanks for your thoughts so far. On the software front, how do I know what software level I currently have, and if there is an update for it? And if so, can I do it, or does it have to go to a dealer?

Just been to this page............https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html

and get the following message after inputting my VIN........Your vehicle does not support updates.

Cant help with what exact software update is needed but I went to an indy and they were able to update it so no need to go to a main dealer.

I've just fixed mine using my laptop yesterday, the same symptoms and age car, so the software update looks like a likely fix

Car is booked in next week at my local specialist BMW indy garage (who tell me that they can do software updates). I'l post the outcome. Thanks.

One hours labour for the software update and I now have a working handbrake again. Many thanks for all your input on this.
