I had an issue in that my battery was draining down after the Z4 (2008 2.5 SE Auto) had been parked up between 48 hrs and 72 hrs having read other threads on the forum/internet the stereo head unit was the prime suspect. With the Z4 all switched off and left to settle down for approx. 20 mins I tested the amp drain on the battery and it was reading 1amp. I knew I had a problem and 1 amp was deemed to be too high. On my Z4 fuses 47, 48 & 50 are all marked up for the stereo so I pulled fuse 50 first and had an instant 0.5amp reduction in the drain on the battery. So I decided to fit a kill switch on the power feed to the battery. To do this I needed to remove the fan vents directly above the stereo to access the 2 screws that hold the stereo in place.

After identifying the power lead I decided to fix a switch with a light into the plastic trim (which is removable) directly underneath were the stereo is located. The switch is out of sight but the light provides a gentle reminder when the power to the stereo is on and perhaps more importantly a reminder to flick the switch when you park the car up.
Apologies no photos as wasn’t thinking about posting this article at the time of doing the job hopefully all sorted now as I drive the car regularly so battery should now maintain its charge
