Paranoid Post

Have addressed everything that needed to be addressed and christ knows some of you know the story!
So far-

Roof motor relocated to boot. First mod by durham dave, wayay man.
Throttlebody replaced (betty's first tantrum when back in Holland)
Cam cover gasket replaced.
Intake boot replaced.
CCV system replaced. Pita but completely stopped high oil consumption.
Oil filter housing gasket replaced. Stopped leaking.
Plugs and oil replaced.
Waterpump, thermostat, coolant and belts replaced. Solved temp fluctuations completely, yay.
Gearbox oil replaced.
Diff oil replaced.
Ratty brakelight replaced. Just taken delivery of replacement for the replacement within warranty period as 4 leds on the right have failed. Next job.

To do-

Airbag light on. Think its the module. s**t.
Seatbelt light and alarm coming on even tho both seatbelts clicked in. Drrr
Attach undertray.
Replace driver side xenon ballast and rear light cover.

Waiting to fail-

Me. It will come in the form of being knocked off my bike, possibly by a zed owner

I fear that my eternal sense of optimism that all of the above faults won't afflict my Zed won't last, that the bank balance will be insufficient for sensible maintenance and that the whippy will lose its whippiness. :o

What Z4 failure are you waiting for?

(contributions from all Z4s welcomed)

Should of asked this earlier in the thread really.
Is there something in particular worrying you/playing on your mind or is this just a general inquiry Marlon?

Good question Mack.

I guess I spend too much time reading the 'problems' thread and wondered what other members worry about.

The irony is that apart from an indicator bulb warning light that came on intermittently but then went away completely, my car hasn't had any problems and has only cost me the annual service (excluding mods of course  )

These cars are a Godsend compared to what could have gone wrong with my Smart Roadster!

you lot need a chill pill - i've got a triumph stag!

anything is possible with that cooling system and repair costs are in multiples of £1000, water pump £1000, head £2000, block £3000.

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

EPAS for sure. That's when I'll be retrofitting Z4M steering gear (and will be leaving the S54 attached)

Any K bus fault (again).

Everything else is doable :D

My positive check list:

Rear springs – already replaced :)
Roof motor – already relocated to the boot :)
VANOS – the facelift has better gubbins and lasts forever
DISA – Not a clue what this is, don’t tell me - ignorance is bliss
Water pump – ermmmmm, I’m in the AA

Note to self: don't read Chris_D's posts

Don't worry about the DISA - BMW fixed them in the facelift 👍

You did however forget the stress of getting a windscreen changed and making sure you get OEM trim... something I will need to do soon :(

Oh, 3rd brake light too, though not that expensive to sort.

Not so much a failure, but I'd be paranoid about a Dutch gangster in a leased Merc waving a cigarette lighter at me.

:D

The front wishbone bushes or some part of it to go. When they do I'm going to replace the whole wishbone instead of just the bushes.

A Scouser would never make a mistake like that.
