Paranoia & Z4 preservation

im not too bad i think, i usually aim for a spot on the end, where at least one side cant be hit - usually try and put the drivers side on the same side as the car - if i can get out thye shouldbne able to get in!

+1

I try to be mindful, but sensible. I'm driven more crazy by neighborhood cats who seem to fancy a warm bonnet.

I agree with most of the previous comments. If I have to park in a car park I first look for a space clear of everybody else and preferably on an end. Avoid like the plague, cars with baby seats in the back, and white van man. But alas on several occasions I have returned to my car after parking away from everybody else, to find an idiot parked right next to mine even when there are loads of available spaces elsewhere.

I admit this is extreme behaviour, but sofar I have suceeded in avoiding any damage but you never say never.

Blimey, I could never be quite so precious about my Zed, I'd never take it anywhere. I bought it to use it, it lives outside 24/7 and if it gets a ding, then it does. You can't stop it happening, I have a couple of small dings ( door generated) in the side of the car, which I know are fairly new, but I don't stress about it as I know it is bound to get more. I try to take care where I park it, but sometimes you have to park where you can. If I was needng to park somewhere really dodgy, I'd take my company car LOL.............

I try to park on the end, sunggled up to the curb. If I can't I try to park beside someone with a car that costs at least as much as mine. :)

I do agree, however, that the more you baby it, the more likely you are to get it dinged. Murphy's law!

I try to find some open space, and try not to park beside an obvious junker if I can avoid it, but other than that no worries. I've had some small dings in my doors but they were easily and cheaply removed by the Dent Wizard guy.

For me doing anything extreme - like parking across several spots or parking alone way, way out in the boonies - is just inviting someone to do something to the car. So although I'm cautious I consider myself reasonable with my precautions and if no other spots are available, I park in the crowd with everyone else.

Hey guys I'm obviously more paranoid than you. Who can blame me, two cars stolen and recovered, seeing your pride and joy wrecked and abused isn't a pretty sight. In all honesty I try to park the best I can and try to avoid potential hazards as much as possible. Saying that I had loads of dings on my passenger door within two months of ownership and I have just learnt to live with it

I find parent & child spaces a good option. really wide. I only do it a night as who takes their child to b&q at 8pm at night, should know better. :poke:

And the gym

Who takes their child to the gym at 8pm? 8)

A few days after tapping out my original reply to the thread, I'd just parked at my local B&Q when the twat in the next bay nudged my rear bumper getting his out of the space. I was still in it ferrchrissakes!!!!!!! I jumped out and stood in front of his car and abused him loudly for hitting my motor. He then tried to deny he'd done it, so I showed him the mark on the bumper and threatened to get the police if he continued to deny it. Lucky for both him and me, it polished out. Wherever you park, it seems like, these days some clumsy/careless twat is going to damage your pride and joy.W*nkers............ :headbang: :headbang: :x :x

The only time I've ever parked my Z4 next to another vehicle has been at the Z Series Homecoming. No problem there!

I pArk my car next to nice new luxury cars, far away from every one else and just walk the extr few feet, or I will also double park and take up two spots if the parking lot looks deadly. After... I don't worry as much about my car. Whatever happens... happens. There are always things you can't prevent.

Taking up 2 spaces is just inviting people to go out of their way to key your nice little bimmer intentionally.

A door ding costs $50~$100 to fix. Any paint job will cost more than that.

Son of a !@#$$%. Light was just right walking out of the house this am and noticed a door ding. Must have happened when I had to drive in to work last Monday-parked in the middle of nowhere and came out an hour later and was surrounded by people who absolutely could not park. :x

Always stay away from 2 door cars they tend to have longer doors and have to open wider to get out.

Of course 4 doors usually mean kids in the back seat who don't give a crap.

GP20,

ya know.. you are absolutely right on that one! i dont do it too often... and i just usually double park as a last ditch effort. and btw.. i have already noticed a nice bit of a scratch on my driver's side door. it sucks... but... whatever. it's not insanely eyecatching... but yes.. double parking pisses off a lot of people. gladly.. i work and live in an area where there are nice cars every where and if one is seen parked like that... most of the crowd understands.
