Panic time?!

Hi all

I decided to act on impulse the other night and brought some brand new alloys.

I currently have on some near perfect 108’s and my new alloys are 18” staggered 8” front and 9” rears. These are going to be on ET30’s.

Are these going to still be ok? I can’t work out which way ET’s go ie greater number=further out?

Have I malfunctioned??

JJ

108s are
Front Wheels: 8Jx18 ET47 (p/n BMW 36116758194)
Rear Wheels: 8.5Jx18 ET50 (p/n BMW 36116758195)

Hopefully forum wheel guru Mr Wilks will be along soon to help you out!

I think you may have pushed this a tad too far. I've seen folks on here get away with upto 15mm front and 25mm rear spacers but I think you looking at the equivalent of 17mm front and 27mm rear. I'm no expert though you may well get away with it, particularly if your not lowered etc.

A good site for checking this sort of thing is "will they fit"

Thanks Mack

I’ve had a look and I think it works out as

17mm wider on fronts
20mm wider on rears

It’s going to be tight I think!

These sizes are on 18” alloys

Currently have 19inch style 326 on my E86 , those are 8j et 29 front & on full lock get a slight rub only on drivers side (on stock MSport suspension )
rears are 9j et 40 & fit fine
Your new set would sit 10mm further out on rear & the same on front , just be wary of tyre size for front , maybe a 215 40 would be best ?

Thanks mr wilks!

The front tyres are 225/40
The rears are 255/35

I also have lowering springs to go on too

Got loads in the missus top draw!

Will it be rubbing on the inside fronts?

The outer edge of front tyres will catch the arch liner near the access panel for headlight bulbs . Poor design really as it's a flat area of a arched liner .
Running part worn tyres 4-5mm as opposed to brand new can be a advantage as can different tyre brand.
Hankook + Falkens seem to be narrow fitting , Michelin + Pirellis are much fuller by comparison

I think you've not taken into account your new rears are half an inch wider at 9". The 108s are only 8.5" hence why I'm getting 26.4 and your getting 20. Especially now you've said your lowering it your going to have a few issues. Is it too late to change your order?

I’m going to call them today. What’s the max I can go to would you say? What ET shall I ask for?

Thanks

Et35 is the magic number for front & rear , any lower & you need to tweak tyre sizes slightly especially if lowering . 5mm here & there doesn't sound much but the actual rub often sounds worse than it is though there have been members who rubbed right through the liner  not ideal
