Panic buying fuel again

Both petrol stations in the town that stay open late were closed when I went there at 21:30. That's Tesco and BP. Looks like no Zedding about this weekend. :(

To be fair it's not really the fault of the puiblic. This one's all the media and the government. The news stories about petrol stations running dry was pure drama, it's not uncommon for a station to run dry. The advice from the government to keep at least 1/4 tank was just a complete sham.

I think everyone at the pump has some kind of excuse along the lines of needing to top up for a long journey they might need to make or being a ""key worker"" who needs fuel to continue being a martyr.

I don't think there's any real shortage. I drove past about 5 stations on the way to the gym and all looked to still be open without any serious queues. The pensioners and gammons have finished topping up their motobiity Qashqais so things will be back to normal next week.

Not all pensioners have Qashqais!

As you say, things will settle down next week - we aren’t going to use more fuel than normal and fuel tanks will have all been filled this week.

Slight issue is that I had taken the M on holiday and need to drive back south on Monday, so if you see me doing 55 mph you know why

The A11 is down to one lane in several places, with half mile queues out onto the carriageway!
I think the police should be able to close those petrol stations as it's a huge accident waiting t happen!

More to the point, ambulances in Norwich cannot get to the front of the queue to refill as the idiots refuse to let them through!

Pretend it's broken and get the AA/RAC to take you home. :D

Good plan, especially as it is included with my bank account so no higher charges next year anyway.

If I call them out in the holiday place, I can have my breakfast at ease whilst waiting for them to arrive :D

I had MOT yesterday (Passed no adviseries :) )

Reversed out and a pump was free at the front so i reversed in and fueled up. No queing for me

Got to go to the Midlands next week for few days, hope it calm's down so i can get fuel to get back :?

It gets worse!
A small independent garage in a small village near me put their prices up 5p a litre yesterday. Then advertised on local social media that they have fuel, so of course there were queues for miles this morning. At 10.30am they ran dry. So profiteering and will have no fuel until whenever they get their next delivery, which is not very community spirited is it?
And the idiot public seem more than happy to pay the extra cost. :(

We’ve a forum run in a few weeks. Locals will take it well 15 Z4’s filling up over Friday/Sat/Sun night as it going from and returning too the one base each day

Congrats on the MOT

Just putting this out in case it helps someone:
If anyone does get stuck in Norfolk and cannot get home due to lack of fuel, I have plenty of space on my drive and it's ten minutes walk to the railway station.
Happy to store your car if you desperately need to get home.

Not passed a petrol station yet as we are on a walking holiday in the Cotswolds. Only regret is not filling up when we arrived in the area for the way back …
