Panic Bong

Is it just me that gets that sinking feeling whenever you hear the warning ⚠️ BONG ?

I got in the other day to go out, starters up and BONG, then the panicked looking about starts with down at the roof switches, no red light, then the dash to see the FROST warning orange light on and then the sense of relief and is that all, F@@@ing car.

WHY do all the warnings have the same sound that strikes terror through my heart and wallet alike.

Please say it’s not just me that’s paranoid.

Stuart

Yep, everytime I hear that Bong my heart skips a beat as the first time I heard it, it was an expensive gearbox repair.

Happens for low fuel too.

It is called conditioning. We are conditioned to consider to canceling a holiday or remortgaging the house every time it chimes. The terror is real.

It should have a different bong for critical failures than general notifications!

A recording of that bong set up in the toilet would cure a few constipation issues!!! :D

Yep same here
Followed by a apprehensive glance at the dash to see what the warning is.
The relief of a ice warning or low fuel is palpable :D

Yes - my wife took her seatbelt off before the car had fully stopped and I thought - s**t, what now? because of the bong.

You can code that temperature warning out. Stupid idea having the component failure warning make the same sound as the frosty weather/low fuel warning.

It makes the same Big Ben chime if you operate the roof driving over bumpy ground or a sharp bend!

Customer that works on building sites tells me the reverse sound on diggers, JCB's, etc now play tunes as the work force have now been to conditioned by the normal bleep sound. And they are going orange vest like the railways.

You're definitely not alone, disabling the weather warning on startup was one of the first things I did. Unfortunately if the temperature drops while driving it will still go off. They programmed in different icons for each issue, why not different sounds???

It's the first car I've owned that has all these warning bongs, I don't like...

And the newer they are, the worse they seem to get. :(

My E90 3 Series bongs for low fuel, and then does it again once I've turned the engine off and am getting out of it!

I’m surprised it doesn’t bong if you’ve got odd socks on, maybe it’s code-able with Carly? :P

Maybe I've only been wearing matching socks! :P

Indeed it gives me heart failure too; I especially dread the low tyre pressure bong having removed the runflats, but it still pales into insignificance when compared the the constant notifications from my wife’s Volvo XC60 😬

When I hit a moon crater last year, not long afterwards I had the low tyre pressure warning on my non-runflats! Front left tyre fuct! Sh1t myself now when it goes off!

Headline..."Panic Bong" would have an entirely different meaning here. Would indicate that you needed some herbal remedies, in times of great stress, to calm you down. Hmmmmm.....maybe it's appropriate after all. :D
