Panic attacks.... AN UPDATE.

You too Carol, is the date you've got to try and find a cause or is it for treatment? Stay chilled, it's on your mind but it'll get sorted. Apologies for not replying to your first post, ignorance was none intentional.

I went through a period of palputations which the doc put down to stress and it went away for the most part although very rarely I will get it when I'm particularly stressed with the heart feeling it wants to burst and racing like the clappers, in the past the heart racing would last upto 2 days. Pretty scary but with reducing my stress levels its seems to be a rare occurance now so hoping it stays that way.

Early july this year, I was suffering from shortness of breath, even walking a few hundred yards with the dogs would leave me breathless. I was referred by my GP to the hospital and from that visit an angiogram procedure was arranged in August..
I expected to be told I had been wasting everybodys time so was shocked when I was told I would need a triple Bypass. This was carried out on the 16th September and 5 days later I was out of hospital..
4 weeks later I am feeling great and very thankful to Blackpool Victoria Hospitals Cardiac team. Just need to wait for the bones to heal and I will be back to normal approx another 6 weeks. So all the very best to you all awaiting proceedures I hope it all works out as mine has....

- it is a fabulous hospital but busy and can be a little impersonal due to this at times. The consultants I come across are excellent however, it's just that what seems remarkable and crucial for us is everyday for them

When I look back I can see that I was getting short of breath for quite a while, but just put it down to lack of exercise etc... Good luck with everything.. I am not great in Hospitals, however I found the angiogram fascinating...

Also hope your appointment goes well Carol and they can get to the root cause of your problem - I had similar symptoms for many years - ended up in A & E several times and a short stay in hospital for tests that all showed negative - finally diagnosed anxiety and panic attacks . Like you I have been described as laid back ( to the point of horizontal ! ) but it seems that people like us are just as prone to anxiety - very difficult to overcome - with me it was a state of mind - I think looking back my job didn't help . Since retirement I have never had a relapse.
If it proves to be a physical problem it can be fixed once and for all - if it is anxiety then that in itself will be a relief - either way I wish you the very best.
