I asked the question again only yesterday about was a G29 30i as a possibility, the answer no got to be an M40i because it’s got the biggest, fastest engine, she doesn’t drive the bl00dy thing......................
I can see the classic mistake you are making. You asked her. You don't ASK women, you TELL them. Try it, it's worked on all of my previous five wives! :P

Oh, I’ve already made your mistake with the EX Mrs and what a bl00dy costly mistake that was, there won’t be a number 2bto make the same mistake with

I’m also saying that as if it’s a complaint, it’s not, she’s the one wanting the fastest one, me for once I’m trying, unsuccessfully, to insert some logic and reasoning. It also means I’m clearing myself of all blame for going over budget

My wife likes the 35is as she did the previous 3.0l but she will not drive it.
It’s not the performance issue, her car is the 335 and it is no slouch - I’m puzzled.

As I’ve said, Kathleen loves it but won’t drive it. It was actually part of her response when I asked about a 30i, she said she loves the speed and the buzz of the faster one. I wonder if it’s low driving position and the length of the bonnet that puts her off as she’s quite short 5’3

Go for a debadge option on a 30i. She'll never know.

My partner reluctantly drives any of the cars I have in exactly the same way she drives her 120d- change up at 2.5
My mrs won't drive my V90, apparently it's too big! I keep telling her she is supposed to drive it, not carry it. She also refuses to use cruise control on any car, ever, cos she doesn't trust it! Oh and apparently ANY roundabout has to be negotiated in 2nd gear, no matter what.
Don't you just love 'em?

That’s the thing, I’m most definitely not discouraging the M40 but she’s that feckin set on colour and spec combinations that a 30i popped up yesterday with everything she wanted but was an absolute no when I said it was a 30, and even though I’m saying she’s not interested in cars that much I’ve a feeling she’d notice the noise difference between the two.

My Mrs made a similar comment when we were in Ann Summers once.

    Making up for lack of performance in other areas by buying a C63

I had to nip out to get a card and a present today as I didn't dare to think about the repercussions having not acted on the 5 not so subtle hints that it was Valentines day this weekend. So here is a nice v8 grumble for you to listen to.

It's naughty isn't it. I am not going to lie I have watched it 50 odd times. No amount of battery power is ever going to make make feel the way that this does.

Yea I would say a Merc is a rich old man's car just based on the fact that it was only rich old men that I saw drive them in my youth.

Never really thought I wan't a merc before. I guess AMG perhaps is a little different?

I would defiantly pick a medium hot 3 series over the equivalent C class.

Have to agree with this, AMGs are a bit different and I suppose are the only Mercs I would look at. For normal models I would choose a BMW over a Merc any day unless we are talking S Class over a 7 Series in which case it might be the Merc again.

Once bitten by a poor quality car purchase it’s very difficult to forgive and forget- I once bought a Ford Fiesta Supersport way back in 1982 - £4911

It was a bag of spanners and the last Ford I will ever buy!

Ironically back in the day I would never touch a Ford, it's not for nothing that they were called Dagenham dustbins! But fast forward to around 1998 and the introduction of the first gen Focus, I do think Ford turned a corner at that point and started building cars that didn't actually fall apart, well at least not mechanically. Since then we have had two a 2004 Focus and thereafter a 2012 Fiesta both have been extremely reliable. However the interior build is still crap with bits of trim falling off and I don't think I would buy another just because of how cheap and nasty the interior feels, a case in point is the new Focus great to drive, looks good but that interior just puts me off.

I will admit to having a C class some years ago albeit a small engine but there did feel something special about driving behind a bonnet mascot.

I had a few Mercs some years ago before I discovered BMWs! A W123 280e, 190e then a C280 Sport.

And there is something a bit special about having that Star on the front. But an AMG V8 under the bonnet would be even more special.
