Painting the front license plate bracket

I'd like to paint my front license plate bracket so it matches the car (Titanium Silver). Has anyone gone about trying this? Any tips?
 
Most good spray shops will do this - BUT make sure they put the proper plastic undercoat primer on so that the top coat 'sticks' if not it's only time before the paint will peel off. Have seen it done on several cars and it was already done when I got my 325i M Sport Coupe - would certainbly consider doing it on the Zed as it does finish it off.
 
I'm considering just taking mine off, and replacing the front plate with a sticky plate (Or leaving the plate off if there's no holes...?

I'd thought about removing the mount and having a sticky reflective plate, but it doesn't bother me any more.

It will leave holes but IIRC there's a website that sells pre-painted plugs for the holes for this very purpose.
 
I ordered a set from Bimmian, paint-matched to my Zed's body color. Silly, perhaps, as just about any off-the shelf black plate frame would have matched Jet Black well enough. But what made it worth it is that the style of Bimmian's plate frames visually "shrinks" the plate fairly well. A little pricey, but worth it.

I've also seen plate frames that disappear under the car, either manually or motorized. It's kinda James Bond-ish, but a bit silly all he same.
 
Taken mine off recently as I bought a shorter private plate, put a sticky small plate on (small in width only).

Looks absolutely gash & I'm dying to change it. It does leave holes so not easy to cover over, but need to get my bumper painted soon as it's looking "rashed" so will get this done at the same time.

Can you put up pics please after you've installed it. I've been thinking about ways to reduce the size of the plate.
 
drove mine for the first time on any distance yesterday with the plate off, god it looks soooo good..

will see though, will make something more permanent for "days when I don't want to feel like I could be stopped".. :oops:
