Painting roll hoop covers?

Hi

Realised today that the silver roll hoop covers look out of place and was wondering if anyone had painted them. Any tips on removal etc?

this was a costly move for me... the crappy clips snapped and in the end i had to replace one of them... when i got the price and my heart sank.

they appear to once in place... best left alone unless you have another set. lol.

Hmm haha I wonder if it's a wise moving painting then without removing them? Should be ok if the roof is down and everything is prepped up nicely?

Yeah, as Mark says I painted mine with a brush - wasn't happy with the finish, so today I did this and sprayed them (still not the best finish though :( )

Well, I purchased some spare ones and sprayed them in the Gurage - use some plastic utensils to remove them.

This may help?

I've taken some off before, right pain. And you will break some clips in the process! I guarantee it!

You'll need a couple of those trim removal tools, and need to be quite forceful with it, obviously it's plastic so you won't do any damage (unless you go crazy)!

From what I can see that looks like a good finish!

How did you prep the plastic?

Think I'll give them a go without removing them...

My mistake was to try and paint them with a brush first. I reckon if you mask up like I did and spray a primer first followed by several top coats you should be fine. Allow plenty of time between coats.

Painted mine over the weekend - started by unscrewing the seat belt guides and wind deflector.

Then started prizing the covers apart from the bottom up. I let the covers get some sun as I always find warmer plastic behaves better. I did break a couple of clips but nothing that will stop them going back on.

Good luck, I would just say go for it, just take your time!

Hi ryan, I got a second hand set off ebay to paint to match the colour of my motor and to also see
where all the clips are makes them a bit easier to remove once you can see where the clips are and
how they come out, I only broke a few clips on the 1st one I removed the rest came off alright.

like bony said just take your time they will come off easy enough, if photobucket was still working
would have put some pics up for you .
