Painting my Rotors/Hubs

My hubs/rotors don't look so hot with the paint peeling off.

I plan on getting some high temp paint but wondered what are everyones thought is in color.

The current color is grey.

Since my car is black and my calipers are red, I offer some other considerations for your peer review:

1. Grey (same as stock)
2. Black
3. Red
4. Silver
5. Chrome.

Thoughts?

I like emerald green but I guess that was not on the list. I'll take red

JMO, but with red calipers the rotors should be black
I don't think red red would be the best :idunno:

I believe that paint may actually be zinc coating. Anyway, any ideas of driving your Z4 at 8 tenths will cook your paint right off. Yes, it will, even if it states, "High Temp". Trust me. But then again, some like driving like grandpa. :poke:

With the roads around here, I seldom get to 5 tenths. But sometimes when the traffic is very light on the weekends, my buddy and I will do the interstate onramp/offramp thing. THEN I may get to 8 tenths. Break, Entry, Corner, Exit. Or put another way, Break, Turn-in, Apex, Exit.

Last weekend, we (my buddy and I) took the Miata to the track (VIR). There were three Z4 ///M Coupe's there. The profound sadness that I felt because I can never take MINE to the track because of the rules.

That may be fixed next year when my wifes Accord is payed off.....

I think the original coating is just primer or paint, there was some article in BMW Car magazine a few months back with a reply from BMW on the same question.

Surely if caliper paint can withstand the high temps on calipers without peeling then if properly prepared the rotors can be painted with same?

IMHO grey or silver, to blend with the wheels and make the caliper's red finish stand out. Or black :D

Pls can you post some pics when you've done it? I'm sure we'd all like to see....

I scorched my caliper paint (hi-temp G2) at the track last August. They went from red to dark red after my first run.

This is the paint i used on my last car the Aerosol type was for the disc centres and the tin paint on the calipers never had a prob will try them on the Z soon.

Silver top hats to work with red calipers that you have.

I did my X5 with high temp aluminium paint and it worked really well. Lasted for a couple of years until I had to change rotors and then went for Brembo with cadmium top hats that have never tarnished since.

I would go for the black or for the color of your rims.
Red calipers + red rotors = tooooo much!)))

I have a black Z4 as well and unless I bought Brembo calipers in red I would paint the stock ones black to hide them and not take away from the rims.

Well, I asked the real owner of the car, my wife.

She says Black. So I bought a can of Duplicolor Caliper spray paint (Black) and the Duplicolor Caliper paint kit (Red).

When I take to Bumper Facia off for repainting this or next week, then I will paint the hubs and calipers... The can of spray paint says it need seven days to set....The Caliper kit says 24-48 hours...

Pictures to follow.

i am also interested in painting my calipers red.

My question is do i use spray paint or paint applied on with a brush.??

Do i paint the caliper spinrgs too?
