Anyone had any experience with painting fibreglass? My local bodywork shop refused to do it saying it was more trouble than it's worth. Got me thinking whether I should just give it a go myself, good idea or disaster waiting to happen?

Fibreglass gets a coloured gel coat as a top layer finish rather than paint.
It depends on what it is and what the finish is I suppose. The primer is the thing that'll do the work of keeping the paint on so finding a suitable one is the real question.

Also a lot depends on how good the original fibre glass was. If its full of voids then you'll get air bubbles no matter how good the final paint job is.
