Paint...

Ok, so the Zed is going into Southport Car Body next week for a bit of paint..

They come HIGHLY recommended, and having seen their work, I can see why.

Getting front and rear bumpers, rear qtr, drivers door, an A pillar and a mirror done. Not cheap BUT I'll end up with a "perfect" car :)

Just got to decide whether to get them to repair and pain the damage to the two front wings, OR to get them to fir and align the two perfect wings I have OR to fit them myself, although I don't want to be spending hours lining things up..

Thoughts?

I need almost the same done to mine. Both bumpers both rear arches and one side skirt.
How much were you quoted, if you don't mind me asking?

£715 for cash, BUT these guys are GOOD. Bumpers off and all parking sensors etc removed and painted separately, their work is good..

If you're getting both bumpers, both wings, door, quarter, mirror and a-pillar done you might as well get the whole car blown over IMO...

didn't realise your bodywork was that bad - what are we talking about, scratches, scuffs, road rash, rust?

It's not to be honest. couple of small marks on the boot where I put the elec garage door down on it :x few scuffs to the bumpers, couple of tiny scratches on the qtr that won't polish out, bit of chipping to edge of door and mirror and an annoying stone chip right in the middle of the A pillar.

I just want it "right all over" as the creased wing from the :wkr: that hit me when I'd had it for SIX days has annoyed me for ages, and also the couple of little dings in the other wing.

Mike

I'd definitely have them paint the whole front end even if they don't fit the wings. That way the paint will be a 100% match to each panel...

TBH Jess, I'm confident the paint will be a 100% match, they are one of the few places I've seen able to properly paint a door on a silver car, and it look right under all lighting conditions. Just being mindful of the cost...

Mike

So all those little niggles that probably only you notice will all be sorted  - sounds like the creased wing was a biggie actually :(

~Yup - The wing wasn't bad, just annoyed me...

It's NOT going in there any more.. He tried to bump me on price, at the last minute whilst I was actually on the way to drop the car off yesterday..

Going into another place now, highly recommended for a FULL colour change, but can't do it until mid June :( and then it's a 2 week job....

Mike

He'd quoted me £715 to paint the driver's qtr, door, A pillar, boot and both bumpers. I asked him (last week) for a price on painting the 2 front wings, and he said £100 each, which I thought reasonable. He then changed this to £200 per wing, saying he "miscalculated" - my @rse..

I wasn't happy as it wasn't a lot more work whilst the car was in bits with the bumpers off etc. He also raised his initial estimate of a full colour change by £500..

I turned around and went elsewhere..

That is not on mate bet your gutted hope karma bites the :wkr: on the arse.Still will look amazing when it is done
