I have an 06 Z4 with 62k on the clock so I would expect to have some chips on the front of a car this is not a problem but I've also found on the car 2 marks which seem to be under the lacquer there not scratches and not raised up it looks like little white marks underneath the lacquer has anybody got any ideas how I can remove them

Also the paintwork is a bit dull in some places and there are quite a few surface scratches I have a duel action polisher can anybody recommend the best thing for removing scratches

Have you tried claying and polish? I've just bought meguiars swirlx which corrects very light scratches. Haven't tried it yet though.

Could this be corrosion? Should be covered by the 10 year anti corrosion guarantee.

Did you do it with the megs and da?

Might be worth a post on detailing world. Looks like bird crap left too long before cleaning it off :-s

Looks like there's corrosion coming from under the paint. If so, and if it has never had paint, then the paintwork warranty 'should' cover it. Although I'm not sure what BMW would say if it's had paintwork done outside the network as they'd probably tell you to go see them instead.

Will its going in to BMW next week for the CD player I'll get them to have a look they can only say no

If you say it's under the lacquer, it will need a respray. Hopefully BMW will cover it assuming its not had any repair work done in the areas affected.

Doesnt mean its not had any paint though.

I wonder if its the same problem others have reported on the edge of the bonnet and wings where the lacquer fades away.

just seen this on a computer now...

def looks like corrosion to me.

My dad had this on his 5 series - although looked more extensive on his .. he didnt notice it (as its just a car to get him from A to B right! ) the dealer did when he got it serviced... and they resprayed the boot lid for him FOC. The car was 5 years old at the time.
