Paint, Wheels, Suspension and Spoiler... my E86.

Decided to give the car a bit of a refresh, so had the signs of rust on the arches dealt with which then turned into a full respray. Complete suspension replacement along with new wheels for a bit of a JDM / WRX look, and colour coded Maxton lip spoiler.

Very pleased with the results, not to everyones taste, but I don't like to follow the crowd. (Although I do have 19" CSL reps in the shed so maybe that statement isn't fully correct :))

Looks great from those photos! With the suspension refresh also, that will be like a new toy again to you! Was there a massive difference in cost for the complete spray vs the wings and blend ins? Some of the panels are so big on these cars anyway relative to the car size!

It was really just a case of the arches all needed doing as there was some evidence of bubbling, and a few stone chips on the bumper and bonnet, so may as well just respray fully. It was another 1K difference, so a no brainer.

The suspension was not too bad anyway, but it was original to the car, so it was old and I wanted coilovers so I could adjust the ride height exactly how i wanted for whatever size wheels i fit at the time, so I went with BC Racing coilovers after much deliberation as they had full compression and rebound adjustment, and I must say, the ride is extremely good considering I have lowered it a fair amount. I have them on the softest setting and it feels pretty much the same as the old M Sport suspension, but just looks a lot better.

The Maxton rear lip I got painted by the same place that did the car and I really think it just finishes the car off. Most people don't get them repainted due to the cost but I am glad I did as it just adds a custom touch to the car. I always love a duck tail spoiler....

Your car looks fantastic, and I really like those wheels.

I know CSLs look great, but nearly everyone's got them. My car came with them and I went back to OE to be different!

Thanks for the comments.

I bought the wheels on a whim...but I really think they suit it, so they have stayed on for a year. It helps they have a wider offset and so fill the arches a lot better also.
