Paint matching used parts

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide on how I want to repair my front left wing on my Z.

What is the likelyhood that a used wing from a car in the same colour (Silver) would colour match my car? I've noticed a couple breakers with them and, if they match, it would be significantly cheaper than my other options.

Anyone have experience with this?

As long as you have the right paint code, you'll be fine.

or check under the bonnet.

Some colours are more forgiving than others. Some colours may fade differently depending on how they have been exposed to the weather (sun mostly). Generally speaking you won’t get a bad match using a panel with the same code, but in some lights you may spot the difference.

Silver is generally one of the hardest to properly match. That said, I’d still try the used one first as there’s nothing to lose.
