paint finish on back of wings

Hi Guys

I have had my Alpina Roadster for about three weeks now and during cleaning i have noticed that the rear of the front wings inside the door shuts is finished in what appears to be primer, the car has no accident history so my question is is this normal or just an example of poor quality finishing. the car is Toledo Blue.
Its starting to irritate me and I can see me having the doors taken off and the painting done :)
thanks

Welcome to the Forum! Mine is finished in the same colour as the car although the surface finish is not the same quality (ie clear lacquer etc). Did you check with previous owners to make sure it wasn't involved in any accidents prior to purchase?

What colour is it under the bonnet? I think you will find what you have is pretty normal and there is a long thread on the subject (although under bonnet).

I will check mine later and let you know what I have.

Fear not sounds normal mine is finished in the same colour but no clear coat so a satin finish thats when you open the bonnet around and inside the engine bay plus underside of the bonnet and when you open the boot same finish on the inside there.

Thanks for the replys

and the welcome

Car was hpi clear and previous owner confirmed no accidents, the engine bay and boot area are the same colour as car although a satin finish which seems to be the norm, it is just the inside back of the wings which you see when the door is opened, if you look closely, the colour is a sort of sand ,looks like primer to me.

I will try and get apic and post.

Sounds normal, the chassis parts are a sand colour primer, so possible a bit missed from factory, can't say for sure but don't think I can see that on mine without removing the wing?

It annoys me there's a little bit behined the boot seal/scuttle behind roof that's not been covered by finished pain. Cant see it unless you look at it from an odd angle with the boot open but just makes me think these cars just don't have the finish you'd expect from a BMW!
