Paint disappears in the gap!?

I noticed a VERY thin paint/removed paint in the gap between the front panel and bonnet. In fact, the paint completely "away" to the edge of the left side, viewed from the front.

Is this normal? How do I to peeling do not climb over the edge and takes the paint on the front panel?

Pictures coming next time I get to the car.

I've seen a lot of people complain of this where the primer on shut faces is not lacquered. When I bought my zed via AUC route it appeared that the edge of the bonnet and front wings had either been freshly painted, or had not suffered any peeling. Not sure if the dealer had a play with it.

My advice would be to give it some fresh paint. Mark the area off with tape and have a go, as it is out of sight and will stop it peeling to the lacquer on the visible areas of the panels.

Congratulations on owning such a nice car in Denmark! Are there many zeds there considering the cost of ownership?

Got this on the edge of my boot lid. Very common unfortunately. Shoddy, but comes from saving cost by only putting a thin layer of paint with no lacquer on non-visible areas. Which are actually visible, but not until years later when it fades

I'm sorry to hear that it is a known problem! :(

I was thinking of mounting some strong black tape in the gap, but it will probably take the paint with the if it had to be replaced again sometime?
The best solution is probably give it a coat i the gap. Just as it's black, so it probably will not make it big?

Thank you very much - lovely with a special car! :driving:
Oh yes, it is because of the crazy charges!

Let us assume that a Z4 costs 100,000 DKR without registration fees. These fees are approximately 180% (!!).
So suddenly we have a car to 280,000 DKR. Close to three times "what the car is worth."
Then we have a high insurance due to the car has a higher value than, say, compared to Germany.
So you must pay green tax every year. On a Z4 is just over 6000 DKR.
So it's okay to drive! Then comes the all hidden excise taxes on gasoline, tires, service, parts, etc. ..

So the short answer: Yes, it is because of the cost!

1 GBP = 9.04 DKR.

Yes, I would paint it rather than use tape, as the engine heat may affect the tape over time, and removing the tape could pull off more paint. As long as you are careful of the upper edges of the wing and bonnet (masking tape them off to prevent paint getting on to the lacquered areas) then it should be risk free with paint coded for the car, or coded to the primer colour, whichever is present on the shut faces.

One of the things I like about having my car is that it is quite rare where I am. I bet your zed is even more rare in Denmark and really stands out when you are out in it. Congratulations! Hope all goes well sorting the paint.
