Lacquer peel?

Potential warranty claim?

You'll be very lucky to get a successful warranty claim after seven years for a paint defect!

I can see a few marks, but what is the actual problem?

Machine polish, and maybe wet sanding If required would get rid of the little rings I can see.

Just to bump this up - the paintwork's littered with these marks - bonnet especially. They're around 0.5mm in diameter and seem to have a dark centre which almost looks like an iron filing / fallout, the edge is light which is obviously the lacquer?

Cause for concern?

If it really bothers you, just have it sorted. If not, just wash and polish it and forget it.
It's not life threatening and ultimately it will sort if it starts to get bad.

Looks rather trivial from where im sitting but then it all depends if you can live with or not and how much it costs to resolve it -warranty claim i'd say little chance unless you bought it from a dealer recently -in which case sling it back at them along with a strong formal letter

I'd say that's fallout from some sort of industrial process. If it's been parked anywhere within 1/2 a mile of a steelworks or the like it will be covered in contaminants.

why not take it to a local bodyshop they wont charge for a quote and advice.if you were in the Teesside area you could have come to me www.billinghambodyrepairs.co.uk impossible to tell from a photo sorry
