Paint Correction Detailed

i have been dying to get the paint sorted since buying the car. Despite only 9000mls on the clock it looked like the previous owner was a lazy git who use car washes a lot. Don't know what the dealer did to disguise this when i bought it but a did see the preparation guy walking around the car with a rag and a can of WD40 :o
Anyway the car was covered in micro scratches along with the usual swirls. My attempts with Autoglym 'paint renovator' failed miserably. I was going to buy a machine polisher but was a bit nervous as i didn't know the depth of paint or the scratches so a new guy opened up locally and after seeing how much pride he took on other cars i gave him a go.
The difference is unbelievable to be honest! paint is now in pristine condition, minus any marks at all, and very deep.
the picture don't really do it justice but here are a couple anyway
Oh and by the way the cost was £150 and he used 3M's 'yellow' fine polish/correction compound. The same I would have had to pay for a polisher alon which, after seeing the results, i will probably get anyway, if just for polishing alone

Look forward to the pics...

You sure about the 3M colour??? My green one is a really heavy cut...and hard to get a decent finish... i.e. could have a load of holograms and machine marks...

I always follow up the green with at least 2 other polishes....last one being a finishing polish like their blue colour.

Looks good. Now the gauntlet has been thrown down and you have to keep it at that level ;)

got me thinking now. i was going to get the blue and so was he but after a call he got the next one up which looking now must have been the yellow as i remember seeing 'extra fine' on the bottle.
finish was like a mirror even before 2 coats of Autoglym polish

That's excellent, looks great , I like the colour a lot.

I bought a rotary polisher and the 3 stage 3M polish system (green-yellow-blue) to have a go myself. Ive used it a couple of times for a full correction but mainly the odd scuff or scratch and on lighter vehicles. So for that reason it is good to have one just incase.

I can honestly say I don't have the patience to do a dark vehicle justice, you have to be so careful as you can impart buffer trails and holograms if you are not experienced. So if you are anything like me you have made the right decision and let a pro take over.

Enjoy your nice new clean car :)
