Paint colour change advice please.

My 08 3.0si is painted white (Colour # 300).
I have managed to locate a used M bumper in red with scuffs.
The bumper also has the washer ports.
In an ideal world I would prefer to fill the reflector and washer holes myself.
Would I be better served by using the stock red paint as a base to build on ?
Or should I strip the paint and start fresh ?
Worst that could happen ? ..Maybe Pink Bumper ?
Or should I just drop it off at the body shop and let the pros do it right ?
 
No matter how well it's done in a few years the filled washer holes are also likely to appear as the file changes shape. Needs a real pr job to reduce the chances.

In terms of paint most places would flat it off, put a barrier layer if required, primer, top coat and finally clear coat.

Actually I don't really mind the facelift bumper with fog lights.
I like the looks of the M of course.
Looks like the nasty Zed bad boy.
So when the mood afflicts me I think aero and lowering kits..
But as stated before ..
My Zed is supposed to be a light touring car
And my sensibilities direct me to spend discretionary income on weekend getaways, dinners out and make up .

I decided against it.
In the end I figured for the cost vs the agro , I would be miles ahead if I just called in a favour from my neighbour who is a parts manager at the local Nissan Dealership.
