Paint chips

I use Dr Colorchip which I have had so much better results with than any other product. You can wipe on and then wipe the excess off over and over again until you are happy. And no paint blobs that way and the colour match is perfect as well. I have a colour bottle for each car, and the generic kit (with the alcohol and applicator) can be used for all paints.
The way it works is that you dab or wipe some paint over the chip, and it won't adhere to the surrounding paint but will to the chip. With the alcohol solution you can then wipe the excess paint off the surrounding area.

I used Chippex a couple of months ago. Picked up a nasty chip on the bottom of the drivers door. A passing car threw a stone up, I could see it coming towards me, then bang

The chip was about 3mm diameter and bright white (on blue), I could see it from many metres away.
It took 2-3 attempts to get it right, (mainly how long to let it dry before wiping it off), but the result and colour matching was amazing. I struggle to find it now from a foot or so away, really happy as before it was doing my head in as it was the first place I looked walking up to the car.
It sounds similar product/method to what pvr described above.
