Paddles removal

Hello, here is my plan tell me if i get this correctly.
Car is manual
I want to purchase REALLY nice steering wheel but it has got paddles, it is for auto and what I want to do is to get rid of paddles and then REUSE my old black back cover on new steering wheel. Possible or nah?

It is a lovely looking thing, kinda a combo of the best bits between an M Sport and the standard wheel. How and where did you find it? If you dont mind sharing. To be honest I might have been tempted to leave the paddles in situ as it probably looks better with than without etc

You could with the right slip-ring (sometimes referred to as a squib!) use the paddles for other functions. Folding mirrors maybe or flash the lights etc , all possible if you are good at electrics/coding. The world is your lobster :?

Best bet IMO is to swap the back cover from your steering wheel (the large bit of plastic) and the back covers from your 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock trim pieces (bits with the buttons).

Then you can swap all the bits over that you don’t want and make two wheels. One for you and one to sell on again... paddle shift can be quite sought after.

It is in my head so you guys won't kick me out of forum when I share the knowledge.
Until then I am safe with my knowledge

Yes. Everything is plug and play.
BUT. You will not be able to put paddles on non paddles steering wheel without drilling a hole in it. Just a little note if you want to resell another steering wheel with spare parts.

[ref]WouterZZZZ[/ref], I haven’t purchased the new wheel yet but when I do yes the paddles will be available and they appear to be in excellent condition. I’ll msg you then.

[ref]Panta Rhei[/ref], what did you do with 2 blue wires from paddle harness, one of which goes back to right side front buttons?
