anyone know wiring for the push/pull function of the paddle shifter?

trying to rig something up.

i have a manual so it won't shift for me :(

oh and whats bluetooth retrofit involve?

Well I did a complete write up on the retrofit of the MFSW/paddle shift so this may help as a starter.

The 2 switches of the paddle shift work the same down or up and each can be used to ground any signal you want. I used them on the steptronic to force a change, but you could no doubt drive anything in the same way as you can use other MFSW buttons for different purposes.

Bluetooth
Retrofitted that recently and a partial write up here.

Not difficult at all just a lot of bits needed and stripping down from trunk to radio and column

Post any specific questions and I'll try to help

question i have for you is.... which wire was the UP shift and which one was DOWN shift? its confusing cuz you had to add in the wiring...
so it goes from steering wheel(yellow/white), to new wiring(blue/white) to gauge cluster (whichever wires they are)

i want to maybe hook this up for something else. I don't have auto. possibly convertible top operation? I haven't really put a lot of thought into what type of stuff i want these paddles to do

and screw bluetooth...s**t aint worth all the trouble lol

oh and thanks for posting them :)

oh and if ANYONE know which wire is for the convertible top UP/DOWN wire for the center switch, I'd appreciate if you posted them!

I wantttt to know regardless whether i utilize the paddles to do this or not!

In terms of which wire on the paddle goes up and which down I actually have no idea. I simply identified the 2 I needed int he gearbox switching and hooked them into my harness. It was just a question of reversing the connector if I got it wron on the back of the new column mount. The wires to the 'gauge cluster' (actually the LCM) are purely for the MFSW, not the paddles. They control radio, volume, phone, etc.

Roof up and down - Not sure on that, but when I installed the Reinhold module I had to dig 2 wires out of a connector up on the glove box (presumably above the clutch pedal in the US) If you go that route I can pull the instructions and let you know the wires, but I'd probably look to the back of the dash mounted up/down switches first.

Yep - bluetooth - too much work, but since fitted it's fantastic with its total integration into the car.

yea i can't seem to find wiring for the back of the switch... if i can only find out, it would make my life much easier :)

Looking at the instructions to fit the Reinhold remote roof module the plug I refer to above, identified with its black body and white locking clip is pin 20 white /black for up and pin 22 blue/red for down. Note the colours may appear more than once in the plug so check the pin number to be sure.

I do not know what the Reinhold module does to the wires, be that send a signal or grounds it. That you'd have to research

out of all the Z drivers in the world, I'm surprised no one has wiring scheme for the damn car on the internet.. lol

Imma do something with the paddles though :)

UNLESSS someone wants to trade their MFSW for one with paddles(+cash ;))

Pull the larger harness out from under the roof / DTC control mechanism, and:

brown / violet - roof up
brown / red - roof down

There is a small chance I have the two wires reversed in terms of which is up / down (I'm going off my own notes from a while ago) but those are definitely it. And cjeeper is right, its controlled as a switched ground.

wow thanks Reach! going to save this one... def become useful later!

ok now, which wire is for the speed sensor? :) disable speed so it always thinks it's sitting still....operate my roof up to 20mph heh :)

I see it already - a quick paddle down shift and the roof swings open as you slow down momentarily in the traffic, pausing only to accept the admiring glances...

Well, for now just do it :) Solder 2 leads onto those wires and bring a 9v battery on your next cruise. connect the leads on the fly and see what happens! If I had to bet, the control for speed disable is in the computer, not from an analog signal, so if you just feed voltage through the switched grounds, the roof should operate on its own.

(how do you think I test this stuff out in the first place?)
