Packaging ........

some weeks ago I put a post on here about being laid off as all the work offshore is slowing right down ...... and I was discovering that while 61 years old might be "experienced" in the oil field, it's just an old codger in the real world ...... Lol

After applying for around 60 jobs with no success, I put myself out there as a management consultant...... Lol, all of a sudden I'm experienced again .... 10 days later say hello to the general manager of a company operating a world wide operation in Holland .......
It's all about packaging ......

We've got a few people on our project that were made redundant a few years ago, and then hired back after 6 months as no-one else in the team had the experience we needed.

They do 2-3 days a week, so get more free time for about the same remuneration.

They're not 'management consultants' by a long way, but a friend of mine (Clive Mallard a.k.a. The Independents' Consultant) who's been doing it for years is creating some modules to help these type of contractors go from 'contractors' to 'consultants' by giving them the management consulting tools they'll need (e.g. effective meeting management, stakeholder management, organisational change, benefits tracking, etc.).

Still living in Scotland, lol, just going to be travelling a lot just like my last job in Norway ...... First 6 months will be tough, ......... But I'm working again so who cares :)

Congratulations, I work in the Oil and Gas industry and i'm not going to lie I do worry about my future and i'm still fairly young at 27 I just hope it picks up :(

Congratulations on the new job. If it is still in Oil and Gas, I assume it is near Rotterdam then.

Me too for last 17 years. I started in a slump and the CEO said it was cyclical (every 7-8 years) How right he was. This is the third I've seen.
It will come back - our demand for Oil has not gone away our changed - just at the moment we have surplus stocks

Glad to hear you are sorted teamemmenracing

All you need to do is look around you ......... rigs are parked everywhere doing nothing which means that no wells are being drilled.

That in turn means that in a very short time, there will be no oil - oil products are everywhere, governments rely on oil revenues .......

It will not be long before we are paying 2 quid a litre at the pump :D and off we go again ........

Simply put, the world cannot afford cheap oil ...........
