Pacific Tsunami

indeed... saw the news today... sounds pretty bad there.... but found the japanese infrastructure very good... even the nuclear power plants automatically shut themselves down when they detect an earthquake!

The company I'm currently at have put the BBC News channel (on mute) on all the 'digital information boards' (large LCD/plasma screens dotted all around the offices), and some of the pictures are just mind-boggling until you pick a car/boat out and then get a sense of the scale.

When they try and explain the strength of the earthquake against what we've experienced in the uk it's so hard to imagine the difference. terrible to see and yes thankful not to be anywhere near it. I can't imagine how awful it must be for those suffering and respect to all those out there helping deal with it.

+1
This footage is the worst kind of incredible and I hope they come through this okay. Looks like one of their nuke plants is about to go postal too so there seems to be no let up for them at the moment. Sort of puts other everyday inconsequential stuff into clear perspective.

Agree, thoughts and sympathy with all those affected by this terrible disaster. Good to see the Japanese infrastructure be so prepared with earthquakes, though I'm sure there are fatalities, plus it is terrible to see and imagine the devastating consequences of the tsunami.

I have no idea how you would cope with this, your whole world destroyed in a few minutes, I hope the help gets to them as soon as possible.

i am just sat watching sky news now

ain't it time that this god guy stepped in and helped a few of the suffering

This has had me glued to the news for the last couple of days, I'm particularly interested in the nuclear situation which is quite disconcerting, although by all accounts it shouldn't get to anything like Chernobyl severity.

We have CNN over here, pretty much non-stop footage of the carnage in Japan interspersed with updates from Libya. Horrendous !
Lots of repeat stuff but the mess that the nuke reactors are in is very worrisome, almost if not equal to Chernobyl. And the wind is blowing our direction
