I was driving and the check engine light came on and RPMs went high and stayed high. I pulled into a parking lot, shut the car off and carried onto town. Stopped at an auto parts store to have it scanned and these codes came back.

I understand the 1553 is the vanos. None of the other codes make sense to me. No other lights came on (no ABS), idle isn't rough, started right up and the battery is less than 6 months old. And no idea why it throwing a code regarding the VIN.

Think the issue is the vanos and just buy the parts and replace? Can I continue to drive it for a few hundred miles while I wait on the parts? Much appreciated.

That's a whole bunch of codes.
suggest you interpret them properly to define the issue instead of just guessing it's vanos and potentially wasting a lot of money/time/effort on new parts.
sounds to me like a throttlebody issue. Sticking open maybe.
remove it and see if the flap moves freely/smooth.
clean the icv too while you're there.

What engine is this?
I definitely wouldn't keep using it with that symptom though!
Imagine accelerating to join several lanes of traffic then having the throttle stick open!!!!!

Out of interest, from recent research into a different issue, I found that the throttle body contains two potentiometers. If these happen to disagree then the DME shuts the throttle to idle and the throttle pedal will not respond.
It could still be a mechanical issue in there though. Somewhere I saw a photo of the insides of one and it looks more like a clock with various cogs etc.

Next day I had no codes and all functions as normal. Have been keeping an eye on it. Truly strange.
